The Konkani Association of Georgia (KAOG) is gearing up with its southern charm and hospitality, to host the Konkani Sammelan 2016. The two and a half day fun filled event will be held at the spectacular Georgia International Convention Center, in College Park, GA from July 1 – July 3 (Fri – Sun).
Kala Coast (www. kalacoast.com) is a unique village of music and arts, envisioned by renowned Harmonium and Hindustani Classical Artist Shri Sudhir Nayak, who has always been a great encouraging support to our initiative of Radio Idli. We are glad to be given the task of spreading the good word of the Kala Coast Music Festival 2015.

Balachandra Prabhu’s magical voice with Shri Kiran Kamath’s harmonium accompaniment held Mumbai audience totally spellbound. The occassion was very special. It was his first classical concert in Mumbai. Radio Idli had the privilege of organizing his first ever performance in Mumbai, which was left its resonance in the Devotional Genre at the Kurla Balaji Mandir. We bring to you the complete video of this equally historic concert. The quality of his performance that you hear will certainly be more superlative than our description here.
Houston Konkanis performed a dance to the song “Saath Chendi Chelyon” on Sunday, July 1 at Konkani Sammelan 2012 , held in Edison, New Jersey.
The performance was a very big hit. The theme of the song was about the professional life, society has adopted, without giving importance to the family. The wives were frustrated about the professional nature of their husbands.
“2012 Konkani Kids Camp” – Hospitality Committee had arranged a camp run by an accredited local YMCA. This was an opportunity for the kids to have his/her own special Sammelan experience, just a few feet away having fun, making new Konkani friends from all over USA and Canada. This camp also gave the kids, m a sense of independence, and nurtured the community spirit “Heart to Heart – home away from home”. We present some classic Konkani songs that were used to bring children closer to their home, their culture and their language.
The Konkani Sammelan is a unique medium for Konkani’s to connect with each other through a formalized system which integrates the need of a community to socialize with the hope of its denizens to showcase and protect its cultural diversity. Far from being a mere cultural extravaganza, the Konkani Sammelan supports and fosters communal harmony and is the binding force that retains and encourages a sense of kinship and pride. It represents our ability to adapt as a race, grow as a community and mature as individuals.
