“Shri Kiran Kamath, the well-known musician-singer from Mumbai, was recently in Margao, Goa, on a personal visit.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the GSB Seva Samiti, Margao, organized a special Bhajan Sandhya program for our Samaj Bandhava(s) on Thursday the 15th May 2008 evening at 7.00 p.m. at Shri Maruti Mandir, Davorlim, Margao, featuring Sri Kiran Kamath,.

The GSB Bandhava(s) of Margao, Goa meet every Thursday at 7.15 pm at Sri Maruti Mandir, Davorlim, to sing Bhajans. This is followed by Aarati and prasad which is sponsored by each family in turns. However, this Thursday was reserved exclusively for the Bhajan Sandhya Program of Sri Kiran Kamath who enthralled a crowded audience with his soulful singing, which was a revelation for those who heard him for the first time.

Eleven-year old schoolboy, Master Vighnesh Prabhu who accompanied him on the Tabla, gave a highly competent performance belying his age. Smt Kirti Kiran Kamath was on the Tanpura. Sri U. V. Kini and Sri Vinayak Prabhu kept the beat on the ‘taal’. Sri Nagesh Pai felicitated Shri Kiran Kamath and Master Vighnesh Shenoy on behalf of the GSB Seva Samiti, Margao.”

Swaroopa Shenoy from bangalore, brings to us a magical photographic experience of an age old festival of GSBs - The Karkala Teru. Karkala, as most of us know, is one of our prime cultural centers. It is known for its Venkataramana Temple, fondly called as Padu-Tirupathi.

Karkala is also a home and place of origin of many luminaries in our community, including the great Renjal Gopal Shenoy-maam, one of the greatest sculptors ever born.
